    Default Windows Installer Error 1606

When I try to install software which uses Windows Installer, such as Paint Shop Pro 9 or a Windows Installer update, I get this error message:

"Error 1606. Could not access network location %USERPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\" and the installation fails.

I am running Win XP Home on an E-Machines Athlon 3200+. The operating system was installed by E-Machines and was not an upgrade from Win 95 or 98.

    Thanks,

    Lance

Thanks ZEP. BTW, I am not using Norton Anti-Virus. Hopefully Others will be able to assist.

    I appreciate your continued support.
