First off, please try to describe you problem a little better. Are you trying to copy music to your computer from a cd or are you trying to burn music to a cd from your computer? Right click "My Computer", select "properties", select the hardware tab, then the device manager. I believe it is a yellow exclamation that is shown if there is an error. If there is anything wrong click on it and let us what the error is.

The question is do you have a cd burner or just a plain CD ROM?
Most burners have the readXrewriteXwrite spped on the font. eg 48X24X48
That means it reads at 48 Speed, Burns a ReWrite CD at 24 and a fresh blank CD at 48.
If yours doesn't have that or you do not see similar in the manual then you have not got a CD Burner.
If your CD Drive does say it is a Burner then Do the following.
Click Start. Open Control Panel then System.
Under the HArdware Tab click Device Manager
Scroll to the DVD/CD line and open it. Double click on the CD Drive line and Under Driver choose Uninstall.
    Reboot.
Windows should find New harware and install the driver
If this fails then the drive is probably damaged.
A CD/DVD burner would be a good replacement. They are quite cheap.
