Hi matty - To do a 'System Restore', assuming you are using XP.
    'Start'>'All Programs'>'Accesories'>'System Tools'>'System Restore''
The System Restore wizard will open. Make sure the button next to 'Restore my computer to an earlier time' is checked.(It usually is already checked by default). Click'Next'. Select a time from the calendar before you installed the updates. When you have selected the day you may have several options appear in the small window to the right of the calendar. Select one before you downloaded the updates. Click 'Next' and 'Next'. Your computer wil shut down and restart with the settings as they were on the date and time you selected. You can then try downloading the updates again.
    Regards
