    Default Protowall and/or Peerguardian2...

    I'm debating using one of these programs. What's everyones opinion? Pros/Cons ?

    I think I can answer this.

    Don't do file sharing.

    Any form of file sharing carries great risks. Not to mention that most of the things people want to down load are illegal, like movies/songs, in the USA.

    I agree, steer clear of any peer to peer file sharing software. People are being prosecuted on a daily basis for copyright infringement.

    File sharers use peerguardian to block certain IP ranges and to prevent connection to fake servers etc, but it is also a handy tool in the fight against spyware & adware.

    It is a small app that uses little resources, but it does not give full proof protection. You need to be aware of that.

    It can also block things that you dont want it to block...some chat programs, online games etc will not work with it running.

    Protowall is similar but it is closed source, where as PG is open source, so generally regarded as the better of the two.
