Default can't format a compact flash

I took photograph on a Nikon D70s and can view the picture on that camera. But the computer reported corrupted files when I read it from a card reader. And the compact flash cannot be formated in both the digital camera and the computer. The same thing happened when I used another compact flash.

    yccheng:

I assume the camera came with a cable(probably USB) that you can connect the camera to the PC.

Plug the cable into the camera and the PC. If you are using XP, XP may see that camera as another drive. Double click "My PC" icon on your desktop. Is the camera shown ? If so you can probably get the pictures off the card with what ever picture program you use.

Flash cards do die, I have had 2 die on me. I have had luck using

to recover "lost" pictures on CF card.

If the card in fact is bad, it can't be formated.

The other possibility is that your camera and/or your card reader should be attached to your PC through a USB on the PC and not through a hub. Many camera/readers are sensitive this way. Keep us posted.
