Default Purchasing a new computer mouse....

I have two computers, both of which are in need of a new mouse.

Presently, both machines are equipped with a 'wheel' mouse--with ball and cable.

In purchasing a new mouse for each of my computers, what kind of a computer mouse would I ask for?

Would such a computer mouse require new software?

Both computer use Windows XP Pro

I would be most grateful for any help you might provide.

    Cordially

I like the plain 3 button (2-buttons-1center wheel) PS2, Optical mouse.

These would not require any drivers. If you buy a really "fancy" mouse, it will most likely come with driver on a CD Rom.

    Hi

You could use a PS2 or a USB mouse ...

But whatever you get, I would advise you go for an optical mouse ... say goodbye to cleaning the ball all the time...

On the computer I am using now (which used to have the old ball mouse) I replaced the mouse with a PS2 optical about 2 years ago .... never had a problem with it...

On another computer which I sometimes use, I replaced the old mouse (again about 2 years ago) with a wireless optical mouse ... no problems with that one either, apart from changing the batteries.
