You have so many faults with your computer- most of them seem insoluble; and as you said; even the experts on this site cant put things right, some time ago I would have thrown it off the top of some tower blocks we have just down the road. I admire your persistance to get this computer right I hope things go ok for you.

my main problem is if i try to uninstall the Intel Graphics Controller, i keep getting prompted to reinstall it by the found new hardware wizard,

i wish there was a way to turn it off, or maybe i will remove the card alltogether,

Did you ever get the System restore to work ? That is a big concern.

    hi basementgeek,

no, never got the system restore to work, tried it again today,

didn't know how important it was,

could it be because i have been on DSL for a month ? is the DSL affecting system restore ?

and woodcock, i don't think my pc is so bad, guess i could be wrong though, i just think many computers have issues, most computers, and the users just don't really know enough about their computers to really care,

i just read something about StateManager needing to have a check mark in it in msconfig, startup tab, in order for system restore to work,

does this pertain to Windows XP ?

i don't have a StateManager option currently in msconfig, and i'm on XP,
