    Default Website hosting?

I need to set up a a small website just for a few friends.
It's for a free MMORPG called Shadowbane.

Anyway, I want it to be free and I want to be able to use phpBB.
Is this possible and if so, how?

I've never even attempted something like this before so I'm pretty lost.

    Thanks,
    RKJ

Appreciate that... but the only problem is many of them APPEAR free but ask you for a "one-time activation fee" when you sign up.

And it would be a hassle to sign up with each and every one of those until I find one that is really free...

I was hoping someone, by chance, has done this before and could give me tips or ideas perhaps...?

I'll start digging through those when I get home tonight if no one else knows a better way.

There is no reason you cannot use their ISP granted web space if the site is going to be relatively small. You can still apply PHP. Register a domain name and use a forwarding service. That can give you a cheap effective way to have a web site and allow people to access it using a identifiable URL.
If the site is larger than the space required you can trick viewers by combining two or more separate allocations even if they are on different ISPs.
There is extensive help on the net in setting up a PHP site.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.
The problem I'm having is that I can't find a website that offers 100% free domain hosting AND unlimited FTP access. Without that FTP access I'm kinda screwed. I've gone through the first 3 pages of google results and everyone wants me to pay.

This: http://www.netfreehost.com/phpbb/ seemed great for a while... then I realized I had no FTP access.

funpic.org and byethost.com are 2 of the ones I use for random testing away from my localhost.

If you really want to, you could purchase a domain name, setup a redirect on it and host the site on your own computer using Apache and PHP. We'd be willing to help you set that up i'm sure.
