    Default Opening .php file

The person who made my website sent me a .php file by e-mail. When i tried to open it i got a box with a red circle with a white cross and a message saying
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel."
    How can i do that?

Go to http://filenice.com/ for a php file browser.
Be alert as some viruses use the php extension so they can pass virus scanners. They can be an image that hides the malicious code.

and if you don't want to download 3rd party software, just use notepad or wordpard already part of windows. It's just a text file.
