Default Administrative Tools will not open.

In Windows 2003 server when I go to Start > and click on Administrative tools nothing happens, it will not open. Although if I use the run command I can open such things as services by typing in service.msc any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Check whether you have a REG_EXPAND_SZ value called "Common Administrative Tools" set as "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools" (omit the "") in registry key

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

of your server. If not, add it using regedt32 (it has to be REG_EXPAND_SZ not REG_SZ in order to work!). Than you should be able to open Administrative tools without any problems after a reboot. It worked for me on Windows 2000 Server.

    Regards,
