    Default Error loading pop up

    Hi all,

I hope somebody can help me with an error message that pops up every time I start up the computer.
    It reads like this:
    "Error loading C:\WINDOWS\System32\fcycltfo.dll
the specified module could not be found"

    The system is XP pro.

Since my brother and my wife have been playing around with the comp and have actualy removed some programs and ran a spywere program that's been removed also, I don't have more specific information on this issue, but I hope we can start from here.
Thank you for taking the time.

Are you sure that is the correct spelling for the .dll?

i cannot find any reference for it in my usual search places...

If the spelling is correct, most likely malware.

    Read and follow these directions:

    Hi optionrom

You have a startup key in the registry, which is trying to load that file, the file (which is most certainly malware) has been removed, probably by a malware removal program...

You will continue to get the message on startup until you remove the registry key...

Please do as Basementgeek requests ... if you still have the problem when you come to post a hijackthis log, then the hijackthis log will probably show us the key which needs removing ... if not, we'll help you find & remove it ...

When you post a hijackthis log, your thread will be moved to the spyware help forum...
