Default Better buy? HP or custom made

I'm ready to buy a desk top and I have an $800 budget. There is a custom tower with 160 GB for $760. Or I can purchase a 300 GB HP tower, printer, mouse, keyboard, and 19 inch flat screen for $100 cheaper. I'll use it to edit photos and home dvds and go on the internet. Which is going to give me less hassle and be the most reliable?

It all depends on who is doing the custom job. If they've been in business for a number of years, offer a good warranty and include extras (certainly XP or Vista) I'd go for the custom job if all else (other than the hard drive) is equal. Perhaps if you can give us the specs of both, we could make a better judgment. Remember, you get what you pay for ... printer, mouse & keyboards are pretty cheap these days.

Do you know any of the specs of either of the systems?
