I have a Netgear Router (WGR614) that is hooked to my desktop and Netgear wireless card (WG511) in laptop. I don't know why but I am having and have always had intermittent connection on the laptop. This is most aggravating. What can I do to improve my connection so that it is constant and not intermittent?
WiFi signals are easily disrupted by other signals (even wireless phones). Without a doubt, hardwire connections are faster and don't get disrupted. Placement of the wifi router may help some, but perhaps getting/making a booster may be the solution. Take a look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LY8Wi7XRXCA . Stay tuned for other's input.
I recently had the same problem with my TrendNet router.
Today I logged into the router administration page and changed the channel from 6 (the North American default channel) to 1. I haven't had a dropped connection since.
Thanks for the replies. Haven't had a chance to deal with this as I had been workiing on getting Spyshredder off my dad's computer plus been busy with other things. (You know how you become your parent's IT person). Hopefully I can now concentrate on this.
