Default PCI adapter - low signal

    hi everyone, been awhile,

i just got a Linksys PCI adapter, on the fly,

well i'm getting a low signal and wondering if anybody here has any suggestions,

no router, just tapping into some FreeWireless network in the sky,

i get 11 Mbps if i raise my computer off the ground about 3 feet, otherwise it's 5.5 Mbps and 2 Mbps, or just not connecting,

    Maybe a computer desk???

if your connecting to someone elses network, and the signal is better if you adjust your position, i would conclude the adapter is working fine, and you just need to fix a suitable location.

wait for others opinions on this first tho, but i'd try to position the computer in the area of best reception.

Maybe look for a reason behind the interferance? ie power cables running thru the wall at the nominal height? maybe an appliance causing interferance?

I think you really ought to get your own service instead of tapping into some one else's service.

Yea, right after my 2 cell phones offer free service.

What you are asking us to do, is help you do what is basically illegal. You are using something that does not belong to you without permission of the owner.

Think of it this way, your neighbor leaves his keys in his car. You use it, he doesn't know that you did. Since he did not know that you used it, is it OK then ??????

They are paying for the use of it and you aren't.

If you would want to share this connection, find out whos it is. Talk to them, maybe they don't care if you do. If they do, strike a deal with them to help with the cost.

Our policy has always been not to help with cracks/hacks, I think this falls in that category.

well anyway, believe it or not, i do think the best way to go is legit,

i was told this was legal, and some of the details of my situtation seem legal too, i just don't want to get into them right now though, i was just playing with this stuff for now, i preffer a legit dial-up connection,

but............who here has ever copied a vhs tape, a dvd or a cd ???

    not exactly legal huh ?

i'm generally squimish about doing that stuff too,

.................and can you imagine how high the mark-up must be for wireless services, from their costs ?? it must be way way high, 20x, 30x, 50x, take a guess,
