    Default Screen capture (free)

This is a good one....... http://greenshot.sourceforge.net/

Although it doesn't have a built-in image resizer, Greenshot is NOT plain vanilla.
If you set 'output to image editor' in Preferences, you can add text, boxes, arrows, etc to the image without having to load Photoshop or other.

I've recommended this program twice in as many days and can't imagine why I didn't think of recommending it here before.

    Autoruns (free)

Does what it says, shows all background processes and programs that start up with Windows. Also lets you stop them without going into the registry.

    ADDED .. thanks

Thumbs up I forgot this one

    QuickAccess

Very useful, also quick as I put a shortcut in my taskbar, when I click it, TaskManager loads and you can click the blue information icon with instant results and no searching.

    Process Library here. Free

    Try it.

    Hi tallin,

I tried the program and it kept coming up with 'failed initalization' . downloaded it directly, saved to, same thing. Let's see if others have the same problem or not before putting it on the recommended list.
    Thanks.

    Hi Canuck,

I have never had a moments trouble with Quick Access. Here is another link for you - it may help.

Going to Start > Programs > I am using Classic Start Menu > the installation shows up as Process Library.com Quick Access.

Let us see if that helps.

    GIMP free

GIMP is a versatile graphics manipulation package

GIMP (Linux Open Source) is often used as a free software replacement for Adobe Photoshop

The GIMP team doesn't officially provide any Windows binaries.

You can, however, install GIMP easily using the Windows installers by Jernej Simončič.

    A Tip using GIMP;
When you save an image to work on it again later, try using XCF, GIMP's native file format (use the file extension .xcf). This preserves the layers and every aspect of your work-in-progress. Once a project is completed, you can save it as JPEG, PNG, GIF, ...

Thanks abseh1, Gimp is already there under Media Software.

    KillDisk (free)

Despite the worrying name, this program will reformat any Hard Drrive, as well as offering other features. Even wipes out 'hidden' partitions. Floppy and CD versions available.
