    Default CNet TechTracker

If you're interested, CNet has just finished Beta testing on its TechTracker. This program works like FileHippo and others, it checks out the programs you have and lets you know if there are newer versions/updates to them and will let you download those you want. Check this out CNET TechTracker - Free software updates tool for Windows PC - CNET.com and let us know if you think it worthy to be added to our 'Software Picks'.

I tried it out before I went away recently. Have been following along here where comments are not good, There are various negative posts from #12 onwards - I would not recommend it.

I'm pretty sure this is a rebranded VersionTracker Pro which CNET acquired some time ago. It was junk then, and reading the comments on tallin's link, it looks as if it still is.

One of the main criticisms of VTP was that it kept details of your installed software on a remote server, and who knows what else.
