Default Trouble shooting email notification settings

    Email notification settings

By default, when you create a new topic you should automatically be subscribed to the topic and receive email notifications whenever that topic receives a reply. If you don't receive an email notification, follow the instructions below to ensure you are subscribed to the topic in question.

At the top of your thread you will see the menu bar below. Click on Thread Tools then Subscribe to this thread in the drop down box as shown in the image.

Please note: If you see Unsubscribe to this thread, that means you are already subscribed and should be getting email notifications. Double check your spam folder to make sure that is not where the email notifications are going..

If you are still not receiving email notifications, check to see if your profile settings are correct.

To do so, click on Forum Actions in the H2G menu bar, then in the drop down box click on Edit Profile as shown below:

You should now be on your H2G personal profile general settings page. Scroll down to the Messaging & Notification section. Under Default Thread Subscription Mode: the setting should be set to Instantly, using email as shown below:

If both of the above settings are correct, then the reason you are not receiving notifications when a reply has been posted to the topic that you are subscribed to, the problem lies within your email client and there is not much else that can be done on our end. If this is the case, please check your topic\thread regularly to ensure you do not miss a reply.
If you think you might be infected with malware or have recently cleansed your computer of malware without the help of an expert, please read and follow the instructions in How to Start Removing Viruses and Spyware from your Computer. This can alleviate time consumed in trouble shooting your current computer problems.

If your problem is solved, here's how to say thanks!
