That looks to have removed everything. How is the computer running now?

Your Java is out of date.

Older versions have vulnerabilities that malicious sites can use to infect your system.

First install the new Sun Java Runtime Environment

Be sure to close all browser windows before beginning the install.

    Remove the old version(s)

    Download JavaRa
    • Unzip the file and open the JavaRa.exe
    • Click Remove Older Versions
    • JavaRa will search for and remove any outdated version of Java and remove any that are found.
    • Click Additional Tasks
    • Place a check next to Remove Useless JRE Files and click Go
    • Exit JavaRa
    • Delete the JavaRa files from the Desktop

    ----------

Download CCleaner Slim and save it to your Desktop.
When the file has been saved, go to your Desktop and double-click on ccsetupxxx_slim.exe
Follow the prompts to install the program.
    Complete the installation then:

    • Double-click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
    • Click on the Options block on the left, then choose Cookies.
      • Under Cookies to Delete, highlight any cookies you would like to retain permanently
      • Click the right arrow > to move them to the Cookies to Keep window.

    • Go into Options > Advanced uncheck Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours
    • Click Cleaner on the left then Run Cleaner on the right to run the program.
    • Important: Make sure that ALL browser windows are closed before selecting Run Cleaner
    • Caution: It is not recommended that you use the 'Registry' feature unless you are very familiar with the registry.
    • Exit CCleaner after it has completed its process.

    Default JavaRa

I followed the link for the JavaRa download and I can't seem to find the download for it. I'm probably looking right at it, BTW, the tabs are still popping

What are these tabs? Pop-up windows? If so what are they, porn, eBay or what?

The tabs are the Internet Explorer tabs. This is what they say....

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

    Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
    The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

    What you can try:
    Diagnose Connection Problems

    More information

This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:

    Internet connectivity has been lost.
    The website is temporarily unavailable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.

    For offline users

You can still view subscribed feeds and some recently viewed webpages.
    To view subscribed feeds

Click the Favorites Center button , click Feeds, and then click the feed you want to view.

To view recently visited webpages (might not work on all pages)

Click Tools , and then click Work Offline.
Click the Favorites Center button , click History, and then click the page you want to view.

Open IE7 then go to the Tools Menu > Internet Options > Advanced Tab and click on the Reset… button.

Download Dial-a-Fix by djlizard, save it to the desktop then extract it to it's own folder.
    • Open the folder and run Dial-a-fix.exe
    • 2 windows will open. Close the one in the background labeled Restrictive Policies
    • Check the box in section 1, Empty temp folders.
    • Check the box in section 2, Fix Windows Installer.
    • Check the box in section 4, labeled SSL/HTTPS/Cryptography. The 4 boxes under it should be pre-checked
    • Check all boxes in Section 5, labeled Registration Center.
    • Click Go
    • OK any error messages if received, but write them down and post them here.
    • Next click the hammer icon. Select Flush DNS and click Go
When complete, select Repair Permissions and click Go
    • Restart the computer when done.

    How is everything now?

Evil - I'm trying to extract the file and something's not working correctly. I think I'm tired. The tabs are winning tonight. I'd like to continue this tomorrow if possible. I sure appreciate all your help. Peace

    Morning evil -

That link worked much better. When I got to Repair Permissions, it said:

This tool will reset (NTFS and registry) permissions for known files/objects. The files and objects that are known are defined by C:\WINDOWS\inf\defltwk.inf.

NOTE: You do not seem to have C:\WINDOWS\system32\secedit.exe. You can download it from http://DjLizard.net/software/secedit-sfx.exe
This will perform the following commands:

    secedit.exe /analyze /db C:\WINDOWS\sectest.db /cfg C:\WINDOWS\inf\defltwk.inf /log C:\WINDOWS\security\logs\secanalyze.log

    secedit.exe /configure /db C:\WINDOWS\sectest.db /cfg C:\WINDOWS\inf\defltwk.inf /log C:\WINDOWS\security\logs\secrepair.log

It was running something though. It's done whatever it was doing so I'm going to restart the computer and see what happens.
