Do you have your XP install CD?

If so, place it in your CD ROM drive and follow the instructions below:

• Click on Start > Run and type sfc /scannow then press Enter (note the space between scf and /scannow)
  
  • Let this run undisturbed until the window with the blue progress bar goes away

SFC - Which stands for System File Checker, retrieves the correct version of the file from %Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache or the Windows installation source files, and then replaces the incorrect file.

Sadly, I think we'll have to work on my father's PC another time... as i'm back home. I won't be back at his house for a while (university keeps me occupied).
For some weird reasons, after running combofix, it probably fixed some things... but it also made the PC very vulnerable. Anti-Virus program was going crazy! And I wasn't even doing anything on the internet or something.
Also, Malwarebytes missed some files for some weird reasons but I didn't had the time to reinstall... Avira anti-virus became corrupted or something so the active protection is gone. So all the viruses and worms and trojans are probably having a field day right now...
Not to mention the PC is now EXTREMELY slow... almost impossible to open something... I had to wait at least 10 minutes to have SuperAntiSpyware opened... *sigh*...
That's probably all the worms' fault...

I feel like all I did made things worse.

I'm seriously encouraging my father to format his PC...
But i've tried to do it but it doesn't even want to let me!! It says that there's discs are still functioning or something... I don't understand.

Oh well. Thanks anyway.
Maybe i'll ask for your help another time.

If you can try running the sfc /scannow on it. There are missing OS files that need replaced.

A format would be a good solution. The Windows 98 stuff on there makes me think it wasn't installed properly to begin with.
