    Default Internet Connection Problems

I was referred here from this thread: LINK

In short, my problem is connecting to a wireless network. My router is definitely not the problem as my computer won't connect to any network. Networks are recognized but can't be connected to. I can use an ethernet cable to connect to the internet but the LAN connection breaks off after a few minutes or so and I have to unplug and replug-in the ethernet cable usually a couple times to reconnect.

There may be more useful information in the thread I linked above and the three logs requested are attatched.

Thanks a lot! Please let me know if I can help you out any more.

    Hello and welcome to Help2Go

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Help2Go we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

    Please take note:

    1. If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know.
    2. If you are unable to create a log because your computer cannot start up successfully please provide detailed information about your installed Windows Operating System including the Version, Edition and if it is a 32bit or a 64bit system.
      • If you are unsure about any of these characteristics just post what you can and we will guide you.
    3. Please tell us if you have your original Windows CD/DVD available.
    4. If you are unable to perform the steps we have recommended please try one more time and if unsuccessful alert us of such and we will design an alternate means of obtaining the necessary information.
    5. If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.
    6. Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review your topic an do their best to resolve your issues.
    7. If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
    8. Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan again:

    • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.
    • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
    • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
    • Notepad will open with the results.
    • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
    • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

    Information on A/V control HERE

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit Scanner.

Please note that if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows you will not be able to run GMER and you may skip this step. Then proceed to run aswMbr.exe as noted below.

Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:

    Note:
If you are unable to run a Gmer scan due the fact you are running a 64bit machine please run the following tool and post its log.

Please download aswMBR ( 511KB ) to your desktop.
    • Double click the aswMBR.exe icon to run it
    • Click the Scan button to start the scan
    • On completion of the scan, click the save log button, save it to your desktop and post it in your next reply.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

    Attach.txt

Below is the DDS script followed by the requested attatched files.

The gmer did not find anything but I was also not able to check many of the boxes so I attatched the aswMBR file.

Again, just let me know what else you may need. Thanks!

    Hello,

    Please run the following tools.

    1.
Please download the TDSS Rootkit Removing Tool (TDSSKiller.exe) and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!
    • Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the tool for known TDSS variants.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
    • If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it.
    • To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to How to change the file extension.
    • Click the Start Scan button.
    • Do not use the computer during the scan
    • If the scan completes with nothing found, click Close to exit.
    • If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.
    • Ensure Cure (default) is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.
Note: If Cure is not an option, Skip instead, do not choose Delete unless instructed.
    • A log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt (i.e. TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_27.07.2010_09.o7.26_log.txt) will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C.
    • Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply.

    2.
Install Recovery Console and Run ComboFix

This tool is not a toy. If used the wrong way you could trash your computer. Please use only under direction of a Helper. If you decide to do so anyway, please do not blame me or ComboFix.

Download Combofix from any of the links below, and save it to your desktop.

    Link 1
    Link 2
    • Close/disable all anti-virus and anti-malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. Refer to this page if you are not sure how.
    • Close any open windows, including this one.
    • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
    • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
    • If you did not have it installed, you will see the prompt below. Choose YES.
    • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Note:The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you
should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

    • Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

    • Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
    • When finished, it will produce a report for you. Please post the contents of the log (C:\ComboFix.txt).
Leave your computer alone while ComboFix is running.
ComboFix will restart your computer if malware is found; allow it to do so.

Note: Please Do NOT mouseclick combofix's window while its running because it may cause it to stall.

    3.
Please download Farbar Service Scanner and run it on the computer with the issue.
    • Make sure the following options are checked:
      • Internet Services
      • Windows Firewall
      • System Restore
      • Security Center
    • Press "Scan".
    • It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
    • Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

    Hello,

We need to get rid of some other stuff that could be causing the problem.

    1.
We need to run a CFScript.

    1. Close any open browsers.

    2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the codebox below into it:

    Code:
    DDS::
    uLocal Page = c:\windows\system32\blank.htm
    uStart Page = hxxp://my.bresnan.net/
    mLocal Page = c:\windows\system32\blank.htm
    uInternet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:23012
    uInternet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local;<local>

    Driver::
    swoko

    Netsvc::
    swoko
Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.

    2.
    • Download RogueKiller on the desktop
    • Close all the running processes
    • Under Vista/Seven, right click -> Run as Administrator
    • Otherwise just double-click on RogueKiller.exe
    • When prompted, Click Scan
    • A report should open, give its content to your helper. (RKreport could also be found next to the executable)
    • If RogueKiller has been blocked, do not hesitate to try a few times more. If really won't run, rename in winlogon.exe (or winlogon.com) and try again

Things to include in your next reply::
    Combofix.txt
    Roguekiller log

Attached are the two reports requested. The wireless internet is still not working, however I have found that the ethernet connection problem is unrelated. The port must be slightly damaged because if the ethernet cord is held up a bit or if the computer is not moved, the internet connection never drops. The connection drops as soon as the cable is moved around.
