live security platinum virus cannot access web

virus appeared this AM. running windows XP. cannot access web in safe mode with networking. trying to run Malwarebytes. window says file corrupted. cannot access IE or FF. same response file corrupted and it wants me to download platinum virus.

help. how can I get rid of this?

Anyone interested I went to system restore and it had not been infected. Since the virus appeared today I went back 2 days to a restore point. Virus gone.

Although your computer may appear to be running ok there is probably still Malware files left. System Restore is not recommend to fix viruses like this. I do understand your situation as you were probably unable to do anything on the computer due to the Anti Rogue live security platinum. We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:

• Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • DDS.scr
  • DDS.pif
• Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
• A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
• Notepad will open with the results.
• Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
• Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

I ran Microsoft sec essentials full scan and it detected Rogue virus and removed it. Am I safe now?

Could you run the scan I recommend in post # 3 (DDS) and post the logs generated from that scan, that will provide a much clearer picture of the machine for us to look at.
