    Default Ghost usage

    Hi,

    I have a weird issue with my laptop. Even when nothing is running I hear advertisements from the laptop. I am not sure what is running in the background becasue all the browsers are closed and so was wondering if you can help me solve this issue - its quite irritating to hear background noise/music/ads specially when I dont want to hear them or have anything to do with it.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Gamlu.

    Hi gamlu,

    This can be an indication of infection. Let's eliminate that possibility. I'll ask one of the Admins/Mods to move your thread to the removal forum. In the meantime, please follow the instructions below:

    DDS
    Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
    Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.

    * When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:

    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt

    Save both reports to your desktop and post the contents of the DDS.txt log. Save the other report in case our removal expert needs to look at it later.

    Thank you,

    Donna

    Thanks zep! I didn't even see that thread!

    @gamlu,

    Did you complete the steps that zep516 requested before posting in the computer help forum which I in turn had moved back here to the spyware forum due to the symptoms of advertising sounds playing in the background?

    My apologies.
