I'd run this. It's a huge Log, but it provides a wealth of information

Get the free version of Speccy:

Download Speccy 1.25.674 - FileHippo.com in the upper right for the Download
Latest Version button) Download, Save and Install it. Run Speccy. When it finishes (the little icon in the bottom left will stop moving), File, Save as Text File, (to your desktop) note the name it gives. OK. Open the file in notepad and delete the line that gives the serial number of your Operating System. (It will be near the top about 10 lines down.) Attach the file to your next post.

Here's the 2nd log. I see that the following are still there. They didn't show up in StarUp Lite:

    Windows 8 64-bit

Should it say windows 8.1, are users supposed to up date to that ? I'm not sure about that, and will that effect future up dates ????

IE 10 is out of date.

Make sure the windows firewall is off, as AVG'S is running.

    You can do that like:

    :Files
    netsh advfirewall reset /c
netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state off /c

That will turn the windows firewall off. If it's on.

I think the 8.1 update was voluntary. Didn't that have something to do with people complaining about W8 not functioning like W7. I'll look into that.

    Windows Firewall is off.

I'll check to make sure all WU's are installed. I just noticed IE10 myself. Might install Security Check as well. Need to check laundry. Back soon....

Strange. Windows is up to date. I'll have to manually install IE11.

Anything else you could think to check before I take it back the Evelyn?

    Now, back soon.
