    Hi Joe, Sorry, from your post #8, I thought you had clocked off, so I called it a day.

    I have done a cleanboot and the problem persists with iexplorer.exe using 90%+ of the CPU when running video. It may be worth me noting that CPU drops again if I am not using the browser to do other things, after the initial spike. Playing video in full screen results in 100% CPU constant and having a second tab open and browsing causes constant spiking.

    I have also notices that my GPU remains constantly low. Is it possible that it is being under utilised in favour of CPU?

    Hello,

    Is it possible that it is being under utilised in favour of CPU?
    I suppose that is possible, perhaps a driver up-date to the video driver, but I'm guessing at that. I'm out of ideas for now.

    What is the make an model ?

    That way we can do a Google search for high cpu usage using video or something along those lines and see what results show or if anyone else has experienced the issue with that Toshiba.

    Thanks
    Joe

    Hi Joe.

    It is a Toshiba T110.

    I believe I have the latest updated driver but perhaps there is a better one out there.

    I have in the mean time stumbled on a workaround. I have found that the Maxthon cloud browser works fine and the CPU remains below 100% even in full screen and with more that one tab open.

    Any other ideas would be appreciated.

    What about safe mode with networking does that make any difference using Internet explorer or chrome.

    This is a large report but copy and paste it in when you get a chance,

    Get the free version of Speccy:

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_speccy/(Look in the upper right for the Download
    Latest Version button) Download, Save and Install it. Run Speccy. When it finishes (the little icon in the bottom left will stop moving), File, Save as Text File, (to your desktop) note the name it gives. OK. Open the file in notepad and delete the line that gives the serial number of your Operating System. (It will be near the top about 10 lines down.) Copy and paste the report in your next reply..

    Next

    1. Please download the Event Viewer Tool by Vino Rosso
    http://images.malwareremoval.com/vino/VEW.exe
    and save it to your Desktop:
    2. Right-click VEW.exe and Run AS Administrator
    3. Under 'Select log to query', select:

    * System
    4. Under 'Select type to list', select:
    * Error
    * Warning

    Then use the 'Number of events' as follows:

    1. Click the radio button for 'Number of events'
    Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
    Then click the Run button.
    Notepad will open with the output log.

    Please post the Output log in your next reply then repeat but select Application. When you run VEW for Applications it will overwrite the first log so copy and paste it into a reply before running it the second time.

    Hi Joe.

    Just to update you:

    I have installed an updated graphics driver from intel as the Toshiba driver would not allow hardware acceleration in iexplorer. I have now enabled hardware acceleration in iexplorer. There have been some marginal improvements but CPU is still running high in my estimation but below 100% for the most part even with two pages open and streaming video. Full screen still seems grainy and there is the occasional audio blip or video lag even with CPU under 100%.

    I have run iexplorer in safe mode and again only marginal improvement.

    here are the logs requested:

    I'm curious when this issue started, when did it start or has it always been an issue ? It looks like you have the max amount of ram installed so that's ok, nothing shows in the event viewer. What changes have you made to the computer any, you purchased it new ?

    Thanks for the logs as we gather information.....

    Hi Joe.

    I am not sure if this has always been the case as I have only been using the laptop over the past year to browse the web and play video. I bought it new and have not made any physical modifications. It is my suspicion that it has been getting progressively worse over the years which I put down to ever more power hungry browsers and web pages. It may well be that the CPU is simply not up to the task but finances force me to make the most of what I have.

    I'm doing a bit of research on the issue, although I believe you are correct about the CPU..
