Default Very High Page file usage, causing very slow computer

I have a pretty new computer, an HP Compaqa 6710b laptop, with Windows XP, 1GB RAM, and this week it started running really slow a couple of times of day, after maybe 2-3 hours of having it on. When I go to the task manager, the CPU usage is still low, the processes are mostly 0 and 1%'s but the page file usage is at 2GB's or higher. I usually end up having to reboot or even just turn the computer off with the power button b/c it hangs for so long. I ran HijackThis, but don't know how to interpret the log. Can someone look at it and make suggestions if i should delete anything? I ran a full virus scan with McAfee yesterday so I should be virus free as far as I know.

    Thanks!
