    Default Hjt Log

    Hi
After a routine check with the detective I was prompted to post my log.
Please find HJT log attached after first following spyware removal page & running House call, Active scan & Ccleaner.
    House call found Adware_MEMWATCHER.
    Thanks as always

    Hi

This is what the detective questioned ...

    O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.msi.com.tw

(Why the detective caught it: Check this entry if you do not recognize the web site listed in this entry. Trusted Zones are a way for web sites to run ActiveX programs on your PC without asking permission first.)

The site is not a bad one, but there very little reason why any site needs to be in the zone ... I doubt this needs to be there ...

    House call found Adware_MEMWATCHER.
There is a known conflict between Housecall & spybot on certain issues .. this is most probably a conflict between the 2, causing Houscall to flag this as a false positive ...

what version of spybot are you using ? if it's not the latest version ... Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.5.1

Go to add/remove programs & uninstall spybot from there ...

While you have spybot uninstalled - run Housecall again

Then download & install the new version from here :-

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

Once installed, click Tools > Resident ... make sure both boxes "SDHelper" & "Resident" have a checkmark in them ...

Then click Spybot S & D (left hand side) > Immunize > click the + Immunize button

Then click update > search > download updates > once downloaded...

click the + Immunize button again ...

    Hi Steam.
Thanks again, the version of spybot Iím running is 1.5.1.15.
I will follow the rest of your suggestions & keep doing my regular checks with the detective. Keep up the good work.
    Cheers.
And a very happy new year to everyone.

    HI

I should have been more specific with my last post ...

    RE: House call found Adware_MEMWATCHER

I presumed that Housecall found the "problem" in your C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts\127.0.0.1 ?

These are entries put there to protect you, & are not malicious, many scanners find protective entries here, and falsely tag them as malicious (of course there could be malicious entries in the HOSTS file) but this one is a well known false positive
