Default Search@hand, daytotals etc.. redirected links still occuring

Detective prompted me to post this after all attempts at fixing the problem failed. i have followed all the instructions available on this site and i still get redirected to all sorts of seacrh sites (usuall) such as search@hand and daytotals.

it happens in both IE and Firefox.

    obvious bit...
(as i click on a link it shows the URL in the space on the bottom left (in firefox) of the site that it should be taking me to and then suddenly changes to a number sequence like - 64.28.141.159... and then i end up on a random site i didnt want.)

hope there is something you can do. sorry if ive just made some mistake in the advice already on the site...
