Default My computer start up is slow and now I cannot open .xfd file

Please can somone help. Every time I startup my computer it takes years to start. Also if I leave my computer up and running it freezes up and I have to turn it off completely. And now I cannot open up an .xfd extension file.

I have checked for spyware and run all of the programs on the Spyware Forum. Here is my Hijack This Log:

I am not that great with computers and for the life of me cannot figure out what is going on. Thanks in advance for your time in this matter.

    Hi

    Your log's clean ...

    RE: .xfd file

    what is the file ?

there are several with this extension ...

    secure transfer file
    video file
    Atari game file

    http://filext.com/file-extension/XFD

    ---
A slow startup may not be due to malware ...

    1. Have you tried a good cleanup ?
    2. how full is your hard-drive ?
    3. how much RAM do you have ?

Slow startups & freezing are often because of bad RAM ...

Default How do you check your computer for bad RAM?

It is to open a secure transfer file. How do I find out if my RAM is bad or not? Thanks.

    HI

It's possible you now have the extension associated with the wrong program, what program were you using to read it ?

Click > Start > My Computer > right click the C: drive > properties

It will tell you how much ...

    Used space ?
    Free space ?

Go to > Start > Run > type or copy > msinfo32 > click OK

    System Information opens ...

What does it say for :-

    Total Physical Memory ?
    Available Physical Memory ?

    Total Virtual Memory ?
    Available Virtual Memory ?
