I think whoozhe's point about setting the amount of space 2-3% as opposed to the default 12% if you have a large HD would be a valuable addition to the article. |

let's not forget to reinstall service packs and hot fixes after using system restore. Also, if you have problems with your PC and you do a restore and you still have problems, you can use srdiag.exe (located in %systemroot%\system32\restore) to run a system restore diagnostic which makes a txt file listing of all files that will be restored and puts all those files in a .cab file (for unattended restore points ) |

I am using Windows, Home Edition. I understand the system is supposed to automatically create restore points. However, this doesn't happen om my computer. There is no obvious way to schedule an automatic restore point that I am aware of. How do I go about fixing it?
Thanks,

Creating Restore Points
Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. In the System Restore window, click "Create a Restore Point button, next. In the window that appears, enter a description. The date and time is created automatically. _________________ Comptia A+ and Network + Certified. Microsoft MCP in Windows 2000 Pro. Server, Advanced Server and Data Center Sever. |

Hi Bear,
I am sorry but this was not the crux of my question. I know the system will create a restore point after I nanually request it to do so. However, what I meant is how to schedule automatic resore points on a daily, weekly or whatever other time frame.
Sorry if I didn't make my question clear.

Go to the System Restore Screen and click on the "Help Button"
This should be able to answer most of your questions about how and when restore points are set.

Thanks. However, what if pressing "help" doesn't result with any help screen showing up?
Thanks, |
