in windows media player, my friends watched a porn clip on it and now it's listed (even though I have deleted the file off my hard drive) and I can't seem to get rid of it.
I have winxp pro
The clip's (crude) name is listed when i open the WMP file menu, please tell me how to get rid of this as i don't want it on my pc.
thanks |

That doesn't work. Wmp doesn't let you right click on these. Any other suggestions? |

Open My Computer from the desktop.
Navigate to \allusersprofile\application data\microsoft\media index (e.g., C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\microsoft\media index).
Delete the wmplibrary_v_0_12.db file.
Close My Computer.
The next time WMP starts, it will recreate the cache file. You can write a script to delete this file each time Windows starts, or you can set the cache file attribute to Read Only by opening My Computer, navigating to the cache file, right-clicking the filename, selecting Properties from the context menu, and selecting the Read Only check box. _________________ Take control of your life. I think with older versions of WMP you have to remove listings from the registry.
To do this.... ( be very careful to follow exactly )
Click Start>run> type: regedit
Click on the + sign next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER and it will expand. Then click software out of the next list and so on until you get to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player \RecentFileList
When you click once on 'recentfilelist', your list of previously played files will appear on the right. Right click the unsavoury clip and choose delete. Then close the registry box.
Open windows media player to check and the listing will have gone. _________________ Joe - |

If I'm not mistaken Jim, you are looking at generational vernacular. 8O I will attempt to translate.
"OMG" =Oh my God (maybe?)
"MY backside ISNT GRASS w00t"=Thank you, you saved my a--, yippee"
"this fourm is the shizz" =this forum is 'cool'.
But then again, I could be wrong. _________________ One should never attempt to ascertain the total number of units in a collection of gestational poultry until said collection has fully incubated. |
