We are frequently asked about the APoint2K folder in the Windows Start menu and under Program Files. What exactly is Apoint2K, and the files it runs, such as C:\Program Files\Apoint2k\Apntex.exe or C:\Program Files\Apoint2K\Apoint.exe?

The Apoint2K folder contains the device driver for an Alps Touchpad. This touchpad is frequently installed on Toshiba laptops, among others, so the APoint2K folder contains the files Windows needs in order to interact with the device.

We recommend that you leave the APoint2K software intact in your startup files. Removing it will cause the touchpad to no longer function.
