Speedy Loading of Adobe Acrobat Reader 6

by Basementgeek
September 29, 2004

If you're tired of waiting for Adobe Acrobat Reader 6 to download a file for you to read, this tip will make Adobe Reader start up much faster.

1. Open Windows Explorer

2.Find X:\Program Files\ folder (X being your Hard drive that contains your programs, normally “C” )

3. Find the folder Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\

4. Find the folder named “plug_ins”

5. Right click this folder and rename it “plug_ins_NOT” (without quotes marks)

6. Create a new folder called “plug_ins” (without quotes marks)

7. From the plug_ins_NOT folder copy these 3 files to the new plug_ins folder: EWH32.api , printme.api and search.api

If you need for any reason to undo these changes, like to view encrypted PDF’s or any other reason delete the plug_ins folder, rename plug_ins_NOT back to “plug_ins” (without Quotes Marks)

Cheers :)
