This is another one of those brilliant Firefox extensions that, once you install it, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. What it does is simple: when you close Firefox, it will remember the pages and tabs that you had open. The next time Firefox is started, it will open up the same pages and the same tabs, in the same order - exactly as you left it!

It's such a simple concept, and yet you will quickly realize that it can be a lifesaver.

  • What if you are doing research, have tons of pages open, and Windows decides that it's a good time to crash? Just restart Windows, open up Firefox, and you're right where you were.
  • You can shut your PC down at night without having to worry about all those web sites you never got a chance to finish reading.
  • Always have Firefox open up with your favorite pages, with your tabs in just the order you like them, without having to find and open up your bookmarks.

You can install SessionSaver from the Mozilla Extensions site or get the latest version from the author's home page (see the link at the bottom of the Mozilla Extensions page). The feature has become so popular that Mozilla is planning to make this standard in Firefox 2.0, and you can bet that IE7 will have similar functionality when it is finally released next year.
